Car Recalls
The advancement of modern day technology would suggest that the car industry is or should be the best it has ever been in terms of quality of cars built.
In recent news there has been car recalls made by top car manufacturers.
Aston Martin Car Recalls
Aston Martin is renowned for manufacturing top quality, luxurious performance cars and the price tag reflects this. However, 75% (18,000) of the Aston Martin cars built over the last five years have had to be recalled.
Aston Martin discovered that a Chinese supplier had used cheap, fake materials in the cars’ accelerator pedals. Once this issue had been realised, Aston Martin then discovered that the fake accelerator pedals had been used since 2008.
The recall of Aston Martin cars doesn’t bode well for their reputation, as it has undoubtedly been damaged to some extent. The extent of damage to their reputation remains to be seen.
Toyota Hybrids
The Toyota Prius is one of the most popular Hybrids available on the market, but Toyota is to recall a total of 1.9 million Prius Hybrids. This is due to a software fault that could lead to the cars slowing down abruptly as a result of entering the failsafe mode. Additionally, the software fault can also lead to set off warning lights.
The recall for the Prius Hybrids comes just a few weeks after Toyota brought the sale of other Toyota car models to a standstill after they found a defect with seat heaters.
Furthermore, in 2010 there were more than 10 million cars recalled by Toyota as a result of acceleration issues. But, despite the problems, Toyota was the 2013 top selling car-maker.
Honda
Last year, Honda recalled more than 850,000 cars from Britain’s roads because of apparent safety faults.
The Japanese manufacturers topped the car recall table last year, which has diminished their reputation in terms of reliability and quality. The Honda Jazz model had the highest number of recalls in Britain in 2013, totalling 171 thousand.
